Emmett "Butch" Booth Duty

Emmett “Butch” Booth Duty II, age 71 of Oglesby, passed away on March 8, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Canaan Baptist Church in Crawford with Pastor Jim Keever officiating. 

Butch was born on September 2, 1954, in Houston, Texas and was raised in the Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock. After graduating from high school, he attended Howard Payne University. After some time away from our Lord, Butch returned and rededicated his life to the Lord and attended The George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. He received his certificate of ministry and graduated on November 29, 2010. God called Butch into the gospel ministry, and he was licensed to preach the gospel in the work of the ministry in the year 2010 and pastored at First Baptist Church of Osage for a number of years.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, the late E.B. and Holly Duty. He is survived by his Wife, Velynda Sue Duty of Oglesby; a daughter, Dora Bostater of New Mexico; sons, Emmett Booth Duty III of Missouri and Geromy Daniel Duty and wife Barbara, of Minnesota; step-daughter, Sheri Renee Medina of Oglesby; brother, Benny Broussard; sisters, Rhonda Livingston, Debra Ann Barrett, and Ida Diane Hulan; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him.
