Elmo Wagner

Elmo Wagner, age 94 of Austin, passed away on February 5, 2025.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Flint Creek Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Phillips officiating. 

Elmo Edwin Wagner was born December 16, 1930 to the late Edwin and Martha Zschech Wagner in Brady, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Giddings, later graduating from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Personnel Management. He married Eula Wolff on April 28, 1956, and settled in Austin. Elmo enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served as a radio operator for three years before going to work in the private sector. He worked for several insurance companies in the Austin area before going to work for the Social Security Administration, working there for ten years. He also worked in real estate, buying and subdividing farm and ranch properties in and around Austin and Bastrop. 

He and Eula had no children but spent much of their time caring for 28 rescue cats over the course of their lives. They both enjoyed being outdoors and loved wildlife of all kinds. Elmo also loved snowmobiling and his yellow Ford Bronco. He spent much of his leisure time in New Mexico, Colorado, and many other snow areas. 

Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 69 years, Eula Wagner.

He is survived by brother-in-law, Winford Wolff and wife, Mary; nephew, Win Wolff and wife, Evelyn, and their daughter Shan.
