Edna Fern Rueter

Edna Rueter, age 89 of Gatesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Scott’s Funeral Home.  The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Proctor Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. 

Edna Fern Lowry Rueter was born on October 25, 1934 in Comanche, Texas to the late Oscar and Beatrice Graham Lowry.  She was raised and attended school in Corpus Christi, Texas, moving to Gatesville in her Junior year of high school.  She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1953.   After high school, she moved to Dallas and worked as a clerk for an insurance company before moving back to Gatesville and going to work for Phillips in McGregor.  In 1958, with the birth of her first child, she transitioned to a stay-at-home mom for the remainder of her years.  During that time she not only raised her children, but helped take care of grandchildren and tended to the family ranch and cattle.  In her later years, she loved attending all the great grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities.  She also enjoyed entertaining family gatherings.        

Edna was preceded in death by her parents.   She is survived by her son, Dale Rueter and wife, Pam; daughter, Beverly Peña and husband, Ricky; brother, Jack Lowry; grandchildren, Carly Tatum, Morgan Keeton, Kayla Bushong, Trent Rueter, Keegan Peña; and eleven great grandchildren.
