Eddie James Earl Ellison, 68 of Copperas Cove, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in McGregor, with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2026 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Eddie was born on August 18, 1957 in Waco, Texas, to the late Sampson and Imogene Scott Ellison. He was raised primarily in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School in 1975. In June of that same year, Eddie enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country as an Intelligence Specialist until 1979. He then attended Texas State Technical Institute, earning a degree in air conditioning and refrigeration. He attended New Zion Baptist Church in McGregor until he moved to Gatesville, Texas where he attended Harvesting Souls International Church. He rededicated his life to Christ on February 9, 2026 and was baptized on February 22, 2026. He was a quiet and reserved individual with a strong faith and belief in the holy spirit.
An avid reader, Eddie enjoyed learning and expanding his knowledge. He would watch the news for hours and analyze every news story he found interesting. Fishing was also a favorite pastime, but above all, Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; his children, MarQuita Greer, and twins, Latesha and Anthony Ellison; and his grandson, Emmanual Ellison-Bible.
He is survived by his life partner, Linda Sue Sedberry; his children, Sharetta Ellison-Taylor of Waco, Eddie Ellison Jr. of Federal Way, Washington, and Demetrius Greer of Galveston; his siblings, Rickie Ellison of Gatesville, Martha Johnson and husband Mike of Gatesville, Celetia Glenn and husband Randell of Nolanville, Glendias Scott of Killeen, Derick Scott and wife Melissa of Gatesville, Cedric Ellison of Waco, and Eric Ellison of Waco; his grandchildren, Demarr Hayes Jr. of Waco, Demarrquese Hayes of Austin, Shania Hayes of Fort Worth, Anisty Berry of Waco, Tiajha Nichols of Waco, Kehlani Taylor of Waco, and Jhene Taylor of Waco; 10 great grandchildren; two uncles and two aunts; and a host of cousins.
