Duane Anthony Williams, age 62 of Gatesville, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Duane was born on June 16, 1963 in Wichita, Kansas to Louis and Anne Williams. He moved around as a child as his dad was in the United States Air Force. He lived most of his life in Marysville, California, where he met his wife, Angela.
Duane was a natural athlete and mechanic. He was jokingly nicknamed Superman by family and friends because he could do anything and helped everyone. He was the family mechanic. Duane loved to go off-roading, hike, mountain bike, run, play softball, basketball, and rollerblade. He ran several half marathons, did some mountain bike races and ran a full marathon in 2020. He loved family camping trips or going off roading. He loved and spent a lot of time with his nieces and nephews. A somewhat regular trip was going to the snow with family, spending the day sledding/snowboarding, having a picnic lunch and cutting the perfect Christmas tree.
In 2021, Duane retired from CalTrans and he and Angela followed their son to live in Texas where he devoted himself to being a papa. He was adored by his grandchildren who he loved so much. One of his last outings was taking Henry camping for his birthday where he watched him catch his first fish. Henry and papa were best friends.
Duane was preceded in death by his father, Louis Williams Sr.; stepfather, Donald D Rogge; father-in-law, Doug Rose; stepfather-in-law, L.A. Gordon; and nephew, Damien R Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Williams; son, Zach Rose; daughter-in-law, Jessica Rose; grandchildren, Abigail, Henry, Benjamin and Molly Rose; his mother, Anne Rogge; mother-in-law, Donna Gordon; 2nd mother-in-law, Carol Rose; sister, Angela Williams; brother, Louis Williams Jr.; sister, Leslie Williams; brother and sister in-law, James and Gina Rose; brother-in-law, Anthony Rose; brother and sister in-law, Jason and Lisa Rose; and brother and sister in-law, Josh and Maria Rose.
