Douglas A. Garn Jr.

Douglas A. Garn Jr., age 47 of Evant, passed away on the morning of July 7, 2021. The family will have a Celebration of Life service at a later date.

Douglas was born on September 16, 1973 in Cadillac, MI to Douglas A. Garn Sr. and the late Phyliss Martin Garn.  He grew up and attended school in Manton, MI. After high school Douglas joined the United States Army. He served his country proudly for almost 20 years.  During this time Douglas received numerous achievement and commendation medals, some of these were received three to four times. He also was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded during his service overseas in Iraq.  He married Idah Russ and they made their home outside of Evant. Douglas was an avid gunsmith, which had carried over from his days in the military. He also enjoyed wood working and putting together miniature models.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyliss Garn; step-daughter, Jessica Watkins.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Idah Garn; father, Douglas A. Garn Sr.; step-children, Shurrie Swindall, Christa Stone; adopted children, Matthias and Amethyst Garn; 14 grandchildren; step-daughter, Carine Watkins; sister, Stacy Garn; brother, Jon Garn; step-mother, Georgia Strohaver; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
