Dorthiea Odenbach, age 84 of West, formerly of the Mound community, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family that loved her so dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville, with Rev. Wray Nunn and Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery.
Dorthiea (Dot) Odenbach was born on November 7, 1937 in Lubbock, to the late Carl Clyde Warren Waldie and Daisey Marie Wallace Waldie. She attended school in Lubbock. She was united in marriage to Ed Neal Odenbach, Sr. the love of her life on March 24, 1988. She loved any occupation that she worked at. She spent many years with Syble Davidson at Davidson Upholstery in Mound, Post Mistress at Mound Post Office and at Mound I.S.D. She retired after 17 years as a lieutenant in the Law Library with T.D.C.J. She loved reading, playing Texas Holdem, country dancing and piddling in the yard. She loved visiting with her family, either in person or on the phone. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Halloween was one of her favorite visits to see her “little ones.” She was a devoted Nana and momma to her fur baby, Toby. She was a member of the Tokio Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sheila Ann Pruett; sister, Carlene Waldie; brother, Steve Waldie; and companion, Doye Elmore.
Dot is survived by her children, Jimmy Glenn and wife, Delores; Linda Ussery and husband, Robin; Debora (Debbie) Janisch and husband, Jimmy; Donnie Pruett and wife, Mary Jane; Sharon (Dodie) Horton and husband, Randy; Dickie Pruett and wife, Natasha; sister, Edith Finn; sister-in-law, Donna Biancosino; grandchildren, Bryan Glenn and wife, Jennifer, Dee Ussery and wife, Bri, Jenny Ussery, Garrett Ussery and wife Shannon, Amy Cawthon and husband, Shane, J.J. Janisch and wife, Tiffany, Josh Janisch and wife, Morgan, Zach Pruett and wife, Blakeley, Latana Franks and husband, Travis, Julie Courtney and husband, Jesse, Rachael Kocian and husband, Tim, Quane Pate and wife, Amanda, Laci Jirasek and husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Paige, Hannah, Kaylee, Linda Quinn, Tyler, Jackson, Braden, Trystan and wife, Chevy, Ian, Callaway, Zinnia, Alianna, Uriah, Aubriella, Kendrick, Faith, Addison, Caidn, Conner, Zane, Kella, Rush Roberts, Aria, Noah, Ezra, Jozie, Jaylee, Jaci; and great-great grandchildren, Reese and Ryder.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be designated to the Mound Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 177, Mound, TX 76558.
