Dodie Kettler

Dodie Kettler, age 79 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, with Pastor Christopher Richmann officiating. The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gloria Elizabeth (Dodie) Kettler was born on November 20, 1945 to the late Emmit and Almira Hale Dickie in Gatesville, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1964. On October 10, 1965, she married Kenneth Byron Kettler at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, creating a special partnership that would last for the next 38 years. Dodie attended school to become a Nurse and worked in the medical field for many years. Later in her career, she helped manage rental properties for Bob Brown while serving as a caretaker for her mother. She was also a volunteer for the Coryell County Museum. Dodie loved antiques of all kinds and shared her love of antiquing with her best friend, Billy Byrom. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Dodie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Kettler; brother, Rabbe Dickie; sisters, Bette (Katie) Mattiza, and Madeline (Maddie) Deavers; and grandson, Sam Kettler.

She is survived by her son, Shawn Kettler and wife, Suzanne; granddaughter, Laramie Aars and husband, Eric; great grandchildren, Kettler and Emerson Aars; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, who she loved dearly.

Dodie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hillside Nursing Home and to Bluebonnet Hospice for the excellent care and love given to Dodie during her stay.
