Dean Orby Meyer, age 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 19, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 29, 2025, at Barn Church Ministries, located at 7374 State East Highway 36, Hamilton, Texas 76531. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Dean was born on December 29, 1959, in Portage, Wisconsin, to Orby and Delores Meyer. He was raised in central Wisconsin, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. His life journey eventually led him to Kansas, where he met the love of his life, Susan Parke Meyer, whom he cherished deeply. They were married for 44 years.
Dean earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University. He built a successful career as a methods engineer at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and later spent 27 years with IBM as an IT Architect. His work took him to several countries, including India, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. A highlighted family trip was a visit to Israel. At the age of 60, Dean retired to devote his time to his wife, their ranch, traveling together, and being with family.
A man of deep faith and service, Dean was an avid amateur radio operator and loved hunting and fishing. Most importantly, he devoted his life to serving the Lord and others. He taught Bible studies at Hope House Men’s Recovery Home for nine years and at Miracles and Blessings Men’s Recovery Home for two years. He participated in mission trips to Mexico and Russia. Across several churches, Dean faithfully served in many ministries, including Bible teaching, sound and media, website development, board member, and was a founding member of two churches. His leadership, technical skills, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Orby Meyer, and infant brother, John David.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Susan Meyer; his daughter, Rebecca Hansen, of Milton, Florida, her husband Christopher Hansen, and grandsons Jacob and Joshua; his daughter, Jennifer Leal, of Lockhart, Texas, her husband David Leal, and grandchildren Elijah, Elizabeth, Andrea, Lorena, and Juliana; his mother, Delores Meyer, and sister, Charlotte Meyer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Barn Church Ministries, P.O. Box 765, Hamilton, Texas 76531, designated for the sound and media ministry.
Dean’s life was a testimony of faith, service, and love for God and family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
