Darline Meeks

Martha Darline Meeks, age 84 of Kempner, passed away surrounded by family on August 31, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. A private family burial will follow the services. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Darline was born on August 19, 1942, in Gatesville to the late, Lloyd and Nita Thompson. Darline grew up in Oglesby, McGregor, and Gatesville. On January 8, 1960, Darline married James Wicker and they had three children. Darline was a stay-at-home Mom for many years before working at Gatesville I.S.D. as a teacher’s assistant. She loved to cook and sew, making many of her children’s clothes as they grew up. Darline loved any opportunity for the family to gather and spend time together, always thinking of others. After James passed away in 2012, Darline married Norris Meeks in 2014. Darline and Norris enjoyed many hunting, fishing, and traveling adventures together bringing her immense joy over the last 12 years. Darline will be remembered for her sense of humor and light-hearted spirit and for her strength and endurance that she passed on to her children.

Darline was preceded in death by her parents; son, Reb Wicker; and sister, Sharon.

She is survived by her husband, Norris Meeks; daughter, Dee Courtney and husband, Richard; son, Perry Wicker; step-children, Russell and Marilyn Meeks, Ronald and Michelle Meeks, and Rhonda and Mike Pika; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
