Dale Keith Townsend

Dale Keith Townsend, age 76 of Gatesville, passed away on July 24, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gatesville. Inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5 at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full Navy military honors.

Dale Keith Townsend was born on June 27, 1950, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to the late Lyle and Veda Crytzer Townsend. Dale was a generous and selfless man who would do anything for anyone in need. He served 24 years in the United States Navy, earning numerous medals and commendations. He served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed all over the world. Dale loved gardening and woodworking. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing and cherished his animals, especially his goats and dog, Louie Lightfingers. He will be remembered for his generosity and straight forward nature and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Dale was active in the LDS church.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Joanne Townsend.

He is survived by his wife Joan Sharpe; son, Scott Townsend and wife, Carmine; sisters, Lori Parsell and husband, Ernie and Sherry Cousins and husband, Craig; brother, Allen Townsend and wife, Roxanne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
