Cleo Gohlke, age 90 of Coryell City, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Waco.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, with Pastor Christopher Richmann officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20th at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Cleo was born on April 25, 1931 in the Prairie Chapel community of Coryell County, to the late Walter and Jose Holcomb Schmalriede.  She attended school in Prairie Chapel and Crawford.  She married Raymond C.  Gohlke at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City, where she remained a lifetime member.  She was a homemaker until 1965, when she went to work in a toy factory in Gatesville and later worked at Wall’s Manufacturing and Smead Manufacturing in McGregor, until her retirement at the age of 70.  She enjoyed working in the yard, pruning her rose bushes, picking up pecans and sticks.  She will be remembered by family and friends for her homemade cookies that she enjoyed sharing with all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond C. Gohlke in 1990; twin brother, Leo Schmalriede; brothers, Ray Schmalriede, Billy Carroll Schmalriede; sisters, Fay Hennig and Dorothy Symank. 

Cleo is survived by her children, Stephen Gohlke and wife, Lynn, Marsha Johnson and husband, Steve, Norman Gohlke and wife, Debbie; brother, Bobby Joe Schmalriede; grandchildren, Heather Maria-Ria and husband, Jamie, Lori Johnson Wolff and husband, Brent, Chad Johnson and Leslie Hays, Jedidiah Gohlke, Leslie Gohlke and Chris Moore, Jarad Gohlke and wife, Carlee; great grandchildren, Heidi, Bailey, Chelsea, Jozie and Camilla.

Cleo’s family would like to thank St. John Lutheran Church for their Prayers as well as Coryell Health, The Meadows, Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice for their care and support. May peace be with all of you, who belong to Christ.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated memorials be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 10801 FM 929, Gatesville, TX 76528.
