Clara Marie Lawson

Clara Marie Kinsey Lawson, age 88 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Restland Cemetery with Wray Nunn officiating.  The family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Scott’s Funeral Home

Clara Marie Kinsey Lawson, known by most as “Granny”, was born December 27, 1935, in Pidcoke, Texas to Elisha Franklin Kinsey and Christine Henson Kinsey. She was preceded in death by her siblings Sam Byrd, Tommy Key, Willard Key, Henrietta Holden, and Polly DeLeon. Clara Lawson is survived, loved, and remembered by her four children and their spouses: Troy Chasteen and wife Belinda of Gatesville, Diane Perkins and husband Henry of Moody, Kenneth “Yankee” Snyder and wife Deborah of Gatesville, and Christy Janssen and husband Steve of Gatesville. Her memory is loved and carried on in her seventeen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. Clara has two great-grandchildren who have passed on before her. 

Granny spent thirty years as a caregiver in Gatesville. She touched many lives in many ways and was a blessing to those who knew her. Granny’s arms, heart, and kitchen were always open. Her love as over-flowing as the yard full of flowers where you would often find her soaking in the rays and God’s love and glory. Granny loved her Gospel and a good meal with friends and family. Sunday afternoons with Granny and her legendary pot roast will forever be in the hearts and minds of all who love her, knew her, and miss her.
