Cheryl Kathlee Russell, age 80 of Copperas Cove, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2026 at North Belton Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2026 at Scott’s Funeral Home.
Cheryl was born on October 6, 1945, to the late Frank and Marjorie Colegrove Myers in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. She grew up and attended school in Lock Haven. After graduation, she enrolled in Harrisburg Hospital’s School of Nursing program, earning her nursing diploma. While attending nursing school, Cheryl met James (Jim) Robert Russell Sr. The two eloped and were married on January 27, 1968, in New York City. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Germany where Jim was stationed while serving in the United States Army. In 1971 they returned to Texas where Cheryl devoted much of her nursing career caring for others at Kings Daughters Hospital in Temple.
Cheryl found joy in spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved camping, family picnics, decorating for the holidays, working puzzles, arts and crafts, playing Scrabble, gathering with friends for bingo, and taking the occasional trip to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gregory Myers; her loving husband, James (Jim) Russell Sr.; and her son, Frank Russell.
She is survived by her children, James Russell Jr. and wife Denise, and Tracy Farmer and husband Virgil; sisters, Cindy Rooney, Colleen Bonadio, Cathy Frazier, and Candie Stevenson; grandchildren, Kirk Russell, Frank Russell Jr., and Brandon, Bradley, and Jordan Hennessee; and great grandchildren, Oliver and Milo Hennessee.
