Charles Hollingsworth

Charles Hollingsworth age 80, of Gatesville, passed away on the evening of September 16, 2020 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Live Oak Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. There will be a come and go visitation, Monday September 21, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Scott’s Funeral Home.  Covid-19 guidelines will be followed.

Charles was born on March 21, 1940 in the Liberty Community between Whitehall and Turnersville to the late Ben Rady and Lollie Irene Franklin Hollingsworth. He attended schools, at Whitehall, Tunersville and Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1958. He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Turnersville and became a member in 1951.  Charles attended one year of College at North Texas State in Denton before he joined the U.S. Air Force in September of 1961 and served until March of 1965 before being Honorably Discharged. He married Patricia “Patsy” Ann Rhoads on March 12, 1966 in Gatesville where they lived all of their married lives. Charles worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 and a half years before he retired. Charles loved all sports.  He played basketball and baseball while in the Air Force receiving numerous awards and trophies. He continued playing, coaching and refereeing for more than 30 years. Charles loved watching his grandkids play sports and other activities. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beatrice Hollingsworth; brother, Albert Everette Hollingsworth.

Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patsy Hollingsworth; son, Mike Hollingsworth and wife Shelli; daughter, Holli Williams and husband, Billy Bob; grandchildren, Christopher Hollingsworth, Chase Williams, Ben Hollingsworth, Rady Hollingsworth, and Carter Williams; sister, Gladys Weaver; brother, Paul Hollingsworth and wife, Ann; numerous nieces and nephews.
