Brett Allen Smith

Brett Allen Smith, age 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, in Temple, Texas. Memorial services with full military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 15 at Houston National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville.

Brett was born on August 7, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was the beloved son of Marvin Allen Smith and Dorothy Jean Sims. He grew up in Port Arthur and graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School. Brett spent his professional life as an Air Force Military Policeman, where he was known for his dedication, work, and selfless service to his country.

Brett was a passionate guitarist, musician, Christian, and father. He will be remembered most for his quick wit, generous heart, and love for family.

Brett was preceded in death by his grandmother, MaMa Sims.

He is survived by his loving family, including his children, Nathan, Jesse, Shannon, and Justin; grandchildren, Jeremiah Dowd, Jazmyn David-Gwin, Jozlynn Jennings-Smith, and Fiona Smith; and siblings, Craig, Carla, Curtis, and Corey Smith.
