Bobby Jack Roach was born on June 2, 1937, to James Bedford and Ruby Smith Roach in Mount Pleasant, Texas.  He grew up at Boles Children’s Home in Quinlan, Texas, where his mother worked as a house mother. He graduated from high school there in 1955.  During high school he traveled across the United States, singing with the Bell Canto Chorus of Boles Children’s Home.  He then moved to Dallas and attended Strong’s Business School.  On January 21, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lou Craft in Pleasant Grove, in Dallas, Texas. Betty also grew up in Boles Children's Home, and the two have known each other since the 5th grade.

Jack held several business-related jobs throughout his life, but most notably, he was employed as a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years and retired in 1992.  Even after retirement, he worked as an insurance specialist for Brooke Transportation and worked at Christian Care Center.

Jack enjoyed being active in Church Leadership, as a deacon, song leader & doing visitations at Broadway Church of Christ in Garland, Texas.  His hobbies included taking his children fishing when they were younger, family vacations, vegetable gardening, writing poems, coin collecting, reading, singing, memorizing Holy Scriptures & telling papa jokes.  He was also known by friends during his younger days as “Wimpy” because of his love for eating hamburgers.

In October 2022, Jack & his wife Betty moved to Turnersville, Texas to live with their daughter Sharon & son-in-law Earl Abbott.  He LOVED country living, enjoyed scenic drives, sitting on the porch, bird and squirrel watching, and family visits.  He was a devoted Christian & family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Blanche Cain, Noma Bailey, and Ruth McCauley; his brothers, Kenneth Roach, and Carl Roach, and great-granddaughter, Chesa Grace Abbott.
