Bobby Gene Harrington

“Buzz” Harrington, age 72 of Gatesville, passed away on September 15, 2024.

A come and go celebration of life visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Coryell Community Church. 

Bobby Gene Harrington was born on August 28, 1952 to the late Bobby Dean and Martha Ann Hooper Harrington in Dallas, Texas. He moved to Gatesville during his early years and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1971. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and later worked as a manager at H.E.B. in Gatesville. He married Joan Sanders on December 19, 1975. Buzz worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and retired at the age of 51. In his spare time, he enjoyed looking after his animals and supporting his daughter and granddaughter through their various activities. He was probably best known for being an umpire at the Gatesville City ballpark. 

Buzz was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Emma Jean Harrington; brothers, Ricky Harrington, James Harrington, and Larry Harrington; and sister-in-law, Jean Brookshire.

He is survived by his wife, Joan of 48 years; daughter, Stephanie Hester and husband, Carey; brother, Darrell Harrington; sister, Deanna West; grandchildren, Madison Hester and Malachi Trevino; sisters in law, brothers in law, and many nieces and nephews.
