Betty Sue Holt

Betty Holt, age 88 of Hewitt, Texas passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville.

Betty Sue Holt was born on December 23, 1937, in Gatesville, Texas to Cleburne and Ozell Gilchrest. She grew up and attended Gatesville schools and married Doyle Holt on March 16, 1954. Betty was a stay-at-home mom until 1974. She then went to work at Cloth World, Woolco and Texas Farm Bureau where she retired and spent the rest of her time with her husband and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleburne and Ozell Gilchrest; husband, Doyle Holt; daughter, Brenda Adcock; brother, Dale Gilchrest; and sisters, Mary Higginbotham and Barbara Robertson.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Dee Ann Abel and husband, Franklin of Crawford; grandchildren, Kristi Holmes, Drew Walker, Angela Walker, Dylan Adcock and Kyle Adcock; great grandchildren, Kyra, Jordan, Briella, Mallie, Oden, and Harper; and great grandchildren, Anniston, Laci, Evelyn, Scarlet, Kamila and Miles.
