Bertha Louise Snow Howell

Bertha Louise Snow Howell, age 97, of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Gatesville, passed away November 19, 2022 in the hospice facility at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago. There will be a visitation with her family Wednesday, December 14, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM and lasting until 12:00 PM. Following the visitation, she will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Louise (as she was called by friends and family) was born May 13, 1925, in Gatesville, Texas to the union of Jessie Benny Snow and Collie V. Johnson-Snow. She was born to parents who developed this country's best generation.

Louise Snow-Howell migrated to Chicago, Illinois in the 1940's, to be with her sister, Amanda Wheeler. She was raised as a Catholic and was a member of Saint Sabrina Catholic Church. She attended Gatesville public schools and later Kennedy King City College in Chicago.

She worked several demanding jobs in Chicago, and was employed by the Palmer House Hotel and the Chicago Public School system. Louise retired from the Chicago Police Department as a Community Service Aide in the 1990's.

Louise was known for her strength and commitment to her family. Before passing, she requested that all family members help others to enrich their desires.

Her son, Steven, wishes to thank the social workers and nurses for the love, care and support provided to Louise and her family.

She is preceded in death by parents, Jessie and Collie V. Snow; husband, Raymond Howell, Sr.; son, Raymond Howell; other family members including, Dorothy Mae Hasting, Amanda Wheeler, J.L. Snow, Ross Snow, J.B. Snow, Betsy L. Snow; grandson, Andre Smith;  and several nephews.

Louise leaves behind her daughter, Dorothy Price; son, Steven S. Howell; grandchildren, Janice Price, Angie Price, Tearthur Price, Melvin Duke Johnson, Deborah Snow, Roosevelt Snow, Cornelius Snow-Taylor; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great, great, great grandsons.

She will truly be missed.
