Barbara Ann McConnaughhay, age 77 of Pidcoke, went home to Heaven on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2026 at Pidcoke Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Kemp officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Barbara was born June 21, 1948 to the late Verlon and Mary Taff in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She professed her Faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at five years old and lived for Him all the rest of her days. She graduated from Valley High School in Valley Station Kentucky in June 1966 and later from Spencerian Business College in June 1968. On August 16, 1968, Barbara married Donald McConnaughhay at Valley Station Baptist Church and was a beloved wife and helpmate for over 57 years.
Barbara was a member of the Pidcoke Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the Pastor’s wife (First Lady) and as the church organist. She was truly a “Jewel for Jesus” to everyone who knew her, and a best friend forever for many.
She received several recognitions during her lifetime, including the Department of the Army, Commander’s Award for Civilian Service; the United States Armor Association, Order of St John D’Arc; and was commissioned by the State of Texas as a Yellow Rose of Texas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald McConnaughhay; her children, Taya Dawne (McConnaughhay) Gosnell and husband David of Copperas Cove, Donald Alan McConnaughhay and wife Darci of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Cary Drew McConnaughhay and wife Angie of Hutto; her sister, Carolyn Roehl and husband Ken of Copperas Cove; her brother, Duane Taff of Cedarville, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Brandan McConnaughhay, Jerret Gosnell, Jordyn McConnaughhay, Kade McConnaughhay, and Kaylianne McConnaughhay; and her great grandchildren, Sophia McConnaughhay, Alivia McConnaughhay, Lana McConnaughhay, Max McConnaughhay, and Merrick Gosnell.
Memorials in Barbara’s honor may be made to the Pidcoke Baptist Church, 11125 FM 116, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
