Annie Lanelle (Nell) Boone

Annie Lanelle Boone, known by friends as "Nell," age 97, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Waco. 

A private graveside service was held for the family at Gatesville City Cemetery on Sunday, September 15, 2024, under the direction of Scott's Funeral Home, with James Baize officiating. 

Mrs. Boone was born Annie Lanelle Lee on March 30, 1927, in Flat, Texas to the late Robert Clayton and Ora Finney Lee. She graduated from Flat High School and met her husband, Joe, after WWII. They were married on August 5, 1950. Nell was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville even after relocating to Waco, after her husband Joe's death in 2008, to be closer to family. She was proud to be an accomplished Silver Life Master Bridge Player. 

Mrs. Boone is survived by two daughters, Jeanie Boone Bell and Linda Boone Belf, both of Waco; a son-in-law, Danny Belf; a grandson, Brett Belf and wife, Emily of Dallas; a granddaughter, Bekah Belf Trout, and husband Tim of Forth Worth; as well as three great-granddaughters, Hannah and Alice Anne Belf of Dallas and Mary Martin Trout of Fort Worth. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joe David Boone; her parents, Robert Clayton and Ora Finney Lee; two brothers, Robert Earl Lee and Grayson Lee all of Gatesville; and a son-in-law, Dr. Dan Bell of Waco.
