It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Anna Marie Gonzales, who passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 82. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. May 15, 2026, at Scott’s Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville.
Anna was born on November 6, 1943, in Morenci, Arizona to Guadalupe and Aurelio Bonilla. She lived a life filled with love, kindness and devotion to her family and friends. She married Willis Gonzales on April 6, 1961, and they were married for 64 years. Although they were very young, life started early for them, living in Montebello, California, then later moving back to Morenci where they raised their three children. After raising their children, they moved to Southern California, where Anna went back to work until she and Willie retired in 2006. After retiring she and Willie settled in Gatesville, Texas to be close to their family. Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her family and creating cherished memories with those she loved. She will be remembered for her kind heart, strength, sense of humor, faith, generosity, and love for her family.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Gonzales-Ware and husband, Nick of Gatesville, Richard Gonzales and wife, Andrea of Gatesville and Paul Gonzales and wife, Mary from Allen; sisters, Florence Valdez and husband, Ruben of Mesa, Arizona and sister Esther Franco of Chandler, Arizona; sister-in-law Mary Bonilla of La Verne, California; grandchildren, Mary, Tanner and Dariann; great granddaughter Georgia; and other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Gonzales; her parents, Guadalupe and Aurelio Bonilla; brothers Robert Bonilla, Luis Bonilla and Richard Bonilla; and sisters, Jenny and husband, Gilbert Peru, Gloria and husband, Pete Reyes; in-laws Robert Nunez, Nora and Arthur Tapia, and Margarito Gonzales; and god daughter Debra Marinez to name a few.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Brenda Jeffers who was the home health aide who cared for both Willie and Anna for several years and to the caregivers at the Welcome Room-The Oaks at Coryell Memorial Health, for the care, support and understanding they provided both Anna and Willie. A special thank you to Suzie Keeney, Lorie Henry, Lourie Terry, Tori Cummings and David Myers for your friendship, support, kindness, and care. To all of the Coryell Memorial staff and physicians who became an extension to our family, we will forever be grateful.
