W. R. (Bill) Sandig, Jr.

W. R. (Bill) Sandig, Jr. age 76, of Gatesville, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in Gatesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Coryell Community Church in Gatesville, with Rev. Terry Hill and Rev. Walter Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, with a luncheon and fellowship to follow at Coryell Community Church. The family will also receive visitors Friday, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Scott’s Funeral Home. Bill was born on August 15, 1937 in Mart, Texas. He was the son of the late Willie, Sr. and Martha Morris Sandig. He grew up in Mart and graduated from Mart High School in 1955. He married Joyce Featherston on August 6, 1960. They have resided in Gatesville since 1964. He was a civil service employee at Ft. Hood for over 35 years, retiring in 1997. He also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a member of Coryell Community Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Richard (Trey) Sandig, III in 1962. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Sandig; son, Todd Sandig and wife Liz of Houston; Sister, Dorothy Becker and husband Bill of San Antonio; four Grandchildren, Madison and Cole Sandig and Alex and Chance Austin; niece Tracy Sweitzer and her daughter Taylor; Brother (In Spirit), Cecil Strickland. Memorials may be made to Coryell Community Church, 115 N. Levita Rd., Gatesville, TX 76528 or Gatesville I.S.D. Scholarship Fund, in memory of Bill Sandig, 311 S. Lovers Lane, Gatesville, TX 76528.
