Fay Young Allen

Fay Allen, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at her home in Gatesville. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Wood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Fay was born in Coryell County on January 5, 1922 as one of 13 children to the late Guy and Jeffie Blackwell Young. She graduated from Jonesboro High School and married Elmo V. Allen on July 5, 1942. Together they traveled all over the world while he was in the Air Force. Fay was a faithful member of Gatesville Church of Christ. She loved helping “her little old ladies”, many of whom were younger than she was. Fay was active in every way until just a few years ago. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Gillis and Andra Leah Powell; sister, Lela Boswell; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
