Dean D. Meeks

Dean Drew Meeks, age 72, of Gatesville, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at his residence. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Friday, tonight at the funeral Home. Following the burial a reception will be held at the Pidcoke Methodist Church. Dean was born November 14, 1935 in Coryell County, Texas. He was the son of Manson D. and Lois Drew Meeks. He married Margaret Lynn Perryman on December 29, 1956. Dean served as a paratrooper in the US Army. He played football at Texas A & M under Bear Bryant. After playing football at Texas A & M Dean played football all over Europe. Dean worked for the Gatesville State School for Boys and raised foster children for many years. He was a Dairyman until 1972. Dean was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, wife Margaret and two brothers, Weldon and Woody. Survivors include daughters, Andrea Lynn Cook and husband, Cody, and Drew Anne Paige and husband, Todd; son, David Smith; mother, Lois Meeks; five grandchildren, Sara Valenzuela, Adelina Valenzuela, Bethany Brooks, Andrew Armstrong and Macey Paige; and numerous nieces and nephews.
