Clyde Lee Wilson, Jr., age 83, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at The Meadows. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, January 21, 2008 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Edward Schaub officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery. Clyde was born on October 21, 1924 in Andrews, Texas. He was the son of Clyde Lee Wilson and Mable Esslinger Wilson. As a very small child the family moved to Colorado City, Texas where he was reared in the midst of a very large and loving family with strong Christian beliefs. He graduated from Colorado High School and attended Hardin Simmons University until leaving to enter the Navy, where he served in the South Pacific till the war ended. Clyde held several important positions in his work life, but none that he enjoyed as he did serving in the Church. He was director of Draughon’s Business College in Lubbock and Chenier Business College in Beaumont and regional Operations Manager for LTV ED Systems with responsibility of ten Colleges. He was President of Mecca Corporation in Houston. Mecca was a cable TV Company with franchises in Texas City, LaMarque and Hitchcock, TX. In 1978 Mecca was merged into Storer Broadcasting Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darrell Wilson and one granddaughter, Danielle Patton. Clyde is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Wilson; two adopted sons, Randy Wilson and Paul Wilson; step-son, Mike Powell; sister, Marcia Lowe and husband L.D.; granddaughter, Dawn Fennell; 3 great grandsons; aunt, Clola and husband Forrest Whitesides; sisters-in-law, Frances Wilson, Peggy Parks and Peggy Ann Ballard and numerous and loving nieces and nephews and cousins.
